ICT Training across Government of Punjab
Client:

The Government of Punjab

Detail:
ICT Training programme conducted by Trisoft is in line with Punjab Government's Vision 2020 for ICT and Trisoft's plan to promote the use of ICT in the province.

Human resource development and capacity building are the key areas for the development of any organization and country. Currently, there is an acute shortage of ICT trained resource throughout Punjab specifically in the public sector. Since its very difficult for the government to train all employees for basic computer literacy, the ICT Training porogrammes conducted by Trisoft intends to leave an extra ordinary impression on the ICT framework within the public sector.

Before development of "ICT Training" programmes for public sector assessment of the employees was carried out through interviews and surveys. The reasons of conducting need assessment survey includes:

To learn more about what exactly the target groups needs are, supplement sharp-eyed observations and experiences and get detailed information from a larger and more representative group of people.
To become aware of possible needs that are never seen as particularly important or that are never even known.
To make sure that actions eventually taken are in line with needs that are expressed by the target groups.

Depending on Trisoft's internal resources (time, money, and people) needs assessment survey was conducted, in different departments (randomly selected) within the Government of Punjab, in different forms. Need assessment survey ranges from interviewing stakeholders formally and informally to a professional questionnaire guided survey. The results of the survey then guided the development of "ICT Training" programmes for public sector employees.

The objectives of the "ICT Training" programmes are listed below:

Create a well-trained workforce within public sector that is competitive enough to retain its jobs and contribute to building up an effective and efficient public sector.
Conduct classroom-training sessions for government departments to create knowledgeable and skilled IT workforce that is efficient and productive.
Impart ICT knowledge and training at the grass roots level so that citizens are leveraging and benefiting from information technology.
Reach out to common employees within the public sector and help them learn and use ICT.
Assist the Government of Punjab in the development and implementation of e-governance policy framework by imparting and leveraging basic ICT skills.
Outcomes:
As part of this project, Trisoft intends to train over 1,000 government employees in the next two years. Since ICT is a knowledge-based industry, any effort to develop it requires investment and resources. Trisoft is conducting these training programmes in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Department (PITB). PITB is assisting Trisoft by providing computer labs, while Trisoft is responsible for development of training programmes and providing highly skilled IT trainer to conduct these trainings sessions.
